“Dr. Trudy”, with years of experience in the trauma field, has provided an exciting new tool! Built on a foundation of journaling, it takes you through the exploration of naming, defining and identifying. You learn about triggers, positive coping strategies and self care to guide your understanding on the journey. The guided self care components include breathing and mindfulness exercises, an important piece of this evidenced – based journal! Affirmations are sprinkled throughout to further support and encourage progress with the identified personal goal. It is not a replacement for professional help, as the author states, but an effective way of looking at our experience of trauma and determining the steps to recovery.Jodi Ussher, LCSWDisclosure- I was provided with and advance copy for review.

I received my copy of this journal recently, and LOVE IT. The journal is a tool that can be used at your own pace, and the journaling experience is very open, which allows the reader/writer to safely explore and journal his or her own trauma at a safe pace.Navigating trauma can be a very overwhelming experience, and this journal does an excellent job of helping the writer with starting points, coping mechanisms, and goal setting.EXCELLENT, I WOULD GIVE IT 10 STARS IF I COULD!

As a Marriage and Family Therapist that has been treating trauma since my days as a student I found Dr. Gilbert-Eliot’s Trauma Recovery Journal a refreshing new tool for my toolbox. The journal is suitable for someone to utilize on their own and I believe has the potential to be very effective when integrated into formal trauma treatment. The journal could easily be incorporated as effective homework to benefit the client and create structure for treatment. Dr. Gilbert-Eliot has struck an excellent balance between effective information and strategies that a client could easily understand and the research supported techniques that a treating clinician could utilize. I intend to utilize the journal in my practice moving forward. Thank you, Dr. Gilbert-Eliot for a very practical and useful tool.Rich Shannon, LMFT, LCADC, NCC
