10 Ways To Keep Your Relationship Strong and Healthy.
1. Greet each other when you come home. Find out your partner’s love language and use that as their greeting.
2. Schedule a weekly check-in. More if possible but just a ten-minute disruption-free chat would prove beneficial.
3. Don’t forget to date your spouse. This doesn’t necessarily mean go out on dates. It means to behave as if you were first dating.
4. Share your daily highs and lows. True intimacy is communicating/conversing and sharing your day with one another.
5. Find something you appreciate about your spouse every day. This could be literally anything large or small. It could be the way they parent or the fact that they remembered to rinse their dinner plate off before placing it in the sink.
6. Tell your partner often why you love them. Again, this could be large or small. Do your best to state a personal attribute i.e. “I love your thoughtfulness” or maybe even “I love how you tuck me in before you leave for work.”
7. Look each other in the eyes. Often the BEST conversations are said without words.
8. Spend time together without technology. This is huge. So many couples just stare at their phones/computers all day, and continue and do so when they are home together. Play hide and seek in the house or fly kites outside. Do things together that do not consist of any technology.
9. Small acts of physical affection go a long way. Anything from a quick back rub, touch on the shoulder etc. speaks volumes.
10. Surprise them – and not just on their birthday or special occasions. Skies the limit with this one. Plan a fun date, jump in the shower with your partner. Call them randomly and just tell them you miss their voice etc.
